The world is a little bit better than it was before election day.

Gay Marriage is now legal in Washington State, and the Stranger has a nice photo essay of civilization collapsing in on itself beneath the weight of our corrupt Romanesque decadence, just as the anti-human rights crowd predicted. It’s either that, or pictures of couples that have been together for years at last not being treated as second-class citizens. I’m not sure which.

As balloon-juice’s popular post tag puts it, gay rights are in fact human rights. Makes me proud to be a transplanted Pacific Northwester, and even more ashamed of my home state’s reprehensible proposition 8. I can’t see Oregon being far behind.
